GESIP - Project Objective and Description

The objectives of the Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project are to support the Government in improving (i) the curricula and teaching quality at the pre-primary, primary, and lower secondary levels and (ii) learning environment in the Faculty of Health Science at The University of Guyana (UG). Guyana Secondary Education Improvement Project

Amerindian Peoples Plan

The objective of the Guyana Secondary Education Improvement Project is to increase the number of students with access to secondary school mathematics teachers benefiting from continuous professional development nationwide and, to increase the number of students in secondary schools with improved learning conditions in targeted regions. Guyana Improving Teacher Education Project (GITEP)

GITEP Overview

The objective of the Guyana Improving Teacher Education Project (GITEP) is to improve the learning achievement of Guyana’s school children by improving the effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of teacher education. This objective is consistent with the Government of Guyana’s Education Strategic Plan 2008-2013, which aims to raise the standard of living in Guyana through improving education in its overall effectiveness. The Secondary Competency Certificate Programme (SCCP)

Caribbean level vocational qualification to be offered at secondary schools

After successfully introducing the Caribbean Vocational Qualification or CVQ at most of the technical institutes, the Ministry of Education is now moving to introduce on a phased basis, the competency-based qualification to students in secondary schools. Deputy Chief Education Officer with responsibility for technical education, Patrick Chinedu Onwuzirike, told the Government Information Agency (GINA), that starting in September, the ministry will begin piloting the CVQ in ten secondary schools.
